For over 30 years, Nelson Molina worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) as a sanitation worker. While he worked, he found many objects; some that needed repair and others that were fully intact. Molina, along with curator Alicia Grullón, will choose objects from the Treasures in the Trash Collection to accompany seven contemporary artists’ works, creating unique, site-specific installations at the Hunter East Harlem Gallery.
The Brooklyn Cyclones will be celebrating DSNY at a special Appreciation Night. The game will feature a DSNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums performance, first pitch by Commissioner Garcia, National Anthem by DSNY vocalists, and more.
Tickets are $20 and come with a food/beverage voucher and Cyclones cap.
Join us for the first in a series of beach cleanups in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans. Parley will be transforming the plastic collected from the cleanups into reusable bags in time for the 2020 plastic bag ban.
Meet like-minded ocean activists, celebrate the summer by keeping our oceans clean and help us bring attention to the trash that ends up in the city’s waterways.
