Recap: World Disco Soup Day

Disco Soup started five years in Berlin, Germany where it is more commonly referred to as Schnippeldisko, a  "protest soup" against food waste. Disco Soup aims to raise awareness about the severity of the food waste issue and prove that all food waste is edible. Saturday, April 29th Slow Food Youth Networks around the world came together to celebrate World Disco Soup Day--the first Global Disco Soup Day. To stop edible food from reaching landfill, the event gathers un-sellable/expired food from grocery stores and farms to create hundreds of free meals for the public. There was over 100 Disco Soups in 40 countries, which made it the largest food waste awareness event in history. Read more here.
